The Foundation
The "Sustainable Villages Foundation" was founded in 2020 by Joachim Hauschopp and recognised by the foundation supervisory authority in 2020. It is a non-profit foundation under civil law with its registered office in Potsdam and administrative address in Berlin. It is subject to state supervision in accordance with the Foundation Law of the State of Brandenburg. The non-profit status has been confirmed by the responsible authorities and is periodically reviewed by them.
The foundation's Executive Board consists of its founder, Joachim Hauschopp, and Daniel Schmidt. The seven-member Board of Trustees is chaired by Rwandan solar entrepreneur Francine Munyaneza. The Executive Board and the Board of Trustees work on a voluntary basis.
Sustainable Village Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rwandan Ministry of Local Government (MINALOC). On the basis of this MoU, the foundation is recognized by Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) as INTERNATIONAL NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANISATION.
