Memorandum of Understanding on school electrification agreed!
Juru Primary School and the Foundation signed a MoU to electrify the primary school with a solar system, to install a smart classroom with laptops and to support teacher training in IT and English.
Juru Primary School with almost 900 students today has no connection to the electricity grid. Two existing small solar systems can only power one laptop and lights in three rooms. The Foundation will organize the construction of a solar system with batteries, the electrical installation in all classrooms and other buildings, and buy laptops, a photocopy/printer and a projector for a smart classroom. In order to enable teachers to use the devices and enable some to teach IT to students, the Foundation supports teacher training.
The solar system and the smart classroom will be operational by end of September 2022.
The Foundation has already supported the school in order to get the 90,000 litre water cistern repaired, which is providing drinking water to the school especially during the 100 days of dry season.
